What does it look like?
According to numerous reports, Apple was set
to finally remove the notch that is cut out of the top of the display in the
latest iPhones.
Instead, all of the hidden components - the facial recognition sensor and the front-facing camera - were said to be placed in a small cutout at the top of the screen, allowing the display to extend all the way up. While the reveal announcement showed that the normal iPhone 14 versions are still set to have the notch at the top, the Pro versions of the phone will have a full screen with a “dynamic island” on the screen which with house the front camera. The normal version of the iPhone 14 will also come in five colours - midnight, starlight, blue, purple and product red. The Pro will come in four colours - space black, silver, gold, deep purple. This year, the standard sizes of the iPhone models are expected to change too. The iPhone 14 will be sized at 6.1in, while the iPhone 14 Plus will measure 6.7in. The Pro and Pro Max versions of the phone will be the same sizes - Pro will be 6.1in, Pro Max will be 6.7in.
What new
features does it have?
The brand
new iPhone 14 will take advantage of a new system created caled Emergency SOS. The
system will allow users to get in touch with emergency services quicker in the
event of a fall or crash. The camera has also bee significantly upgraded on the
iPhone 14. The model will get an auto focus upgrade on the front camera. Additionally,
the handset will not feature a sim tray, instead taking advantage of an ‘eSim’.
When will it
be released?
The easiest aspect of
iPhone forecasting is predicting the release date, as new releases follow
a mostly predictable schedule.
Any deviations from
the set pattern would likely cause issues for Apple, which usually means that
if it isn’t following the typical strategy, that information will leak out.
The company have now confirmed that the iPhone 14 will be available from 16 September, while the iPhone 14 Plus will be available from 7 October.
